"It's about being alone in my studio responding to an image, maybe a photograph that I took that I thought was beautiful. It's about ever changing colors like in nature, layering and mark making. It's about mixing up foreground and background. Most of the digital images I use become obscured with paint. The result is a blend of photographic and painted realities. I use luminescent paint that give my paintings a variable glow that alters the viewer's perspective. The confusion of whether my work is a painting or a photograph and the mutability of the paint colors allows the viewer to experience in a new way the fluid essense of nature."
