Barbara Morris paints expressively. There is jazz, poetry, and many a story on her canvases. While the visions presented are hers alone, her work is enabled by past voices; the voice of her revered teacher, the late Joan Brown, and the accented sounds of early precedents, Kandinsky, Cezanne, and Miro.
Not content to restrict herself to a single genre of painting, Morris's accomplished body of work ranges from narrative/figurative work, landscape and cityscape, still life and portraiture, through to stellar transcendental abstracts.
